Manny Ramirez compiled his usual gaudy offensive numbers for most of the season, ending at .321 with 35 home runs and 102 RBIs. The season was a relatively quiet one for the enigmatic slugger until late August. After asking out of the final game of a five-game Yankees sweep on Aug. 21, Manny played in only nine games the rest of the way due to a knee injury (some also believe Ramirez gave up on the team down the stretch). Through his agent, Ramirez once again asked the Sox to be traded in the offseason, according to the Globe's Gordon Edes.
