Mike Timlin was dominant as a bridge to Papelbon for the first three months of the season, but things turned sour on July 4, when he gave up five runs in 1/3 inning against the Devil Rays. Timlin’s ERA was 1.61 to start that game. He ended the season with a 4.36 ERA and spent some time on the disabled list.
