Red Sox
In December 2006, the Red Sox added their fifth starting shortstop in five years by signing Julio Lugo to a four-year, $36 million deal. While it appears Lugo is locked into the position for 2008, shortstop is one of the positions the Sox could try to upgrade. Lugo hit just .237 in his first season in Boston and was not the leadoff answer the Sox hoped he would be. Might the Sox eye a trade for Lugo (a la Edgar Renteria in 2005) and try to make a run at Alex Rodriguez, who played shortstop before being dealt to the Yankees?
