Mo Vaughn, 1995
"The Hit Dog" emerged as one baseball's elite power hitters at age 27, batting .300 with 39 homers, 126 RBIs, and a .963 OPS while leading the Red Sox to an unexpected AL East title. The charismatic Vaughn was a somewhat surprising selection over surly Cleveland star Albert Belle, who batted .317 with 50 homers, 52 doubles, and a 1.091 OPS while finishing second in the voting.
