Teddy Ballgame claimed the second and final MVP award of his legendary 19-year career at age 30, setting career highs in homers (43) and RBIs (159) while walking 162 times and putting up an 1.140 OPS. He defeated second-place finisher Phil Rizzuto of the Yankees -- a shortstop whose OPS was over 400 points lower -- by a 272-175 margin in the voting.
