A case for Jim Rice for the Hall of Fame

In Jim Rice's 14th appearance on the Hall of Fame ballot, he was turned down yet again, falling just 16 votes shy of election as he earned 72.2 percent of the vote (75 percent is necessary for election). He only gets one more audition before he's turned over to the veterans committee. Here are some reasons that Globe columnist Dan Shaughnessy was betting that Rice would go to Cooperstown this year.
