Jim Rice through the years
Rice was a model of consistent excellence during his Red Sox heyday, but perhaps because he played in just one postseason, he does not have an extended collection of walkoff hits and specific highlights that leap immediately to mind when considering his career. But he did make a habit of hitting good pitching -- he hit nine home runs in 87 career at-bats against fellow Hall of Famer Jim Palmer, the most homers he collected off one pitcher. And he batted .360 with 6 home runs in his career against Ron Guidry, the Yankees lefty he beat out for the 1978 AL MVP award.
