SP Tim Wakefield
Fast fact: One of only four pitchers to wear same uniform since at least 1995 (John Smoltz, Trevor Hoffman, Mariano Rivera).
Lowdown: Wakefields odd rib injury that sidelined him for two months last season had a huge impact on both the rotation and the bullpen, as Sox found no way to make up for his innings. Wakefield, 40, has thrown 1,247 innings and won 72 games in the first seven seasons of this decade. Knuckleballer Charlie Hough was good for 1,346 innings (and 67 wins) past the age of 40, and he pitched for bad teams. If Wakefield matches that, hell become all-time winningest Sox pitcher before he gets his AARP card.
