Brad Penny

In January, the Sox signed starting pitcher Brad Penny to a $5 million contract with $3 million more in possible incentives. Penny had 16 wins in both the 2007 and 2008 seasons, but stumbled to an injury-riddled 6-9 record with the Dodgers last year.

Penny, who is 7-2, tossed six scoreless innings against the Yankees at Fenway on June 11.
