Five Sox bests & worsts of the first half
Roughly five months ago, the Red Sox reported to spring training with their usual lot of questions. Now the Sox are just 17 days from the annual major league trading deadline, on a 99-win pace and seemingly destined for another eventful October.
What went wrong? What went right? Obviously, that is all a matter of opinion. But in the coming weeks, Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein will have a chance to address his teams weaknesses, from the defense on the left side of the infield to the depth of the batting order to even, perhaps, the addition of an arm in the bullpen.
As things stand, here are the five best and worst developments for a Sox team with the best record in the American League and second-best in all of baseball.
