Red Sox injury report
Junichi Tazawa
How it happened: Tazawa was only expected to start the season as a Triple A player, but he did spend time in the majors last season as the Red Sox battled for a playoff spot. But, he felt discomfort in his right elbow during spring training and was shut down for the season.
Status: Tazawa is out for the season after having "Tommy John" surgery in April. The pitcher is only 24, and many pitchers have returned from the procedure to have success in the majors.
