Keep him or let him go?

Adrian Beltre, third baseman Status: Free agent Case for/against: Few would dispute that Adrian Beltre, who declined a $10 million player option for next season, was the Red Sox' Most Valuable Player this season. He batted .321, led the league with 49 doubles, hit 28 homers, drove in 102 runs, slugged .553, and played a rangy third base. He's only slugged above .500 and had an OPS above .900 once before in his 13-year career, during his monstrous 48-homer season with the 2004 Dodgers. This is a tough call for the Red Sox in how many years to offer Beltre, who will be 32 next season and is represented by Scott Boras, who is known to drive a hard bargain.
