Kevin Millar acquired
In February of 2003, Theo and the Sox purchased Millar's contract from the Florida Marlins in a highly publicized transaction. Millar stated he had previously agreed to terms but never actually signed a contract with the Chunichi Dragons of the Japanese Central League. After the matter was resolved, Millar signed a two-year, $5.3 million contract with the Sox with a $3.5 million vesting option for a third year. He hit 25 HRs, 96 RBIs and batted .276 in '03, hit .297 with 18 HRs and 76 RBIs in '04, but fell drastically to 9 HRs and 50 RBIs in 2005. Millar spent some time with the Orioles and Blue Jays before retiring after the 2009 season.
