Bobby Valentine (right) will be introduced as the Red Sox' 45th manager today. Valentine has led an colorful life inside and outside of baseball. The Connecticut native and University of Southern California graduate was drafted by the Dodgers and won two minor league MVP awards. He had a brief career in the majors, shortened by a leg injury, and retired at 29. He went on to become a high profile manager, bringing the Mets to the World Series and winning a championship in Japan.

He has previously claimed to have invented the sandwich wrap and in addition to TV analyst duties serves as Director of Public Safety and Public Health for his hometown of Stamford, Conn.
