A closer look at baseball's details

Carl Crawford gets set to remove his diamond stud from his ear before taking the field. “I like jewelry. I’ve been wearing jewelry since as far back as I can remember. Before the game starts I take them off when I get ready to go on the field for practice. Back in the '90s I used to wear them in a game but we don’t do that no more. I can remember some guys complaining about it. I never like to play with jewelry on anyway because you never know if you can get hurt with it. You don’t know what’s going to happen. I definitely don’t want to lose them because they are expensive.” Told that Manny Ramirez once lost a diamond stud after sliding during a rehab stint in Pawtucket, Crawford shrugged. 'Somebody found it.'
