The Red Sox-Cubs connection
Dick Radatz, RHPWith the Red Sox: The Red Sox signed Dick Radatz as an amateur free agent in 1959 and he made his debut in 1962. Radatz began closing games immediately, saving 24 in his rookie year to lead the league. Radatz was an All-Star the next two seasons with the Red Sox, pitching a combined 289 1/3 innings and saving 54 games.
With the Cubs: After a brief stint with the Indians, he was traded to the Chicago, where he posted a 6.56 ERA in 23 1/3 innings. His final season came in 1969 when he played for the Tigers and Expos.
