During his various media appearances and interviews in advance of his current team hosting his former one, Cubs president Theo Epstein spoke whimsically about what it would have been like to oversee a Red Sox roster that was entirely homegrown. Giving John Lackey $82.5 million in free agency tends to inspire such thoughts, but it is an interesting notion.
