Reasons for Red Sox optimism

Ross, Sweeney have been good additions to outfield Red Sox GM Ben Cherington didn't make a lot of high-profile acquisitions during the offseason, but two of his pickups have fared pretty well so far. Outfielder Cody Ross was a key factor in the Sox' 6-5 victory over the Twins Monday night with two late-inning home runs. Ross has five of the team's 17 home runs so far this season. Ryan Sweeney has been solid with the bat as well, batting .400 with a 1.052 OPS in the early going. Once Carl Crawford returns, Ross and Sweeney should be a big improvement over J.D. Drew in right field the rest of the way.
