Tony Armas In the days leading up to Opening Day, Boston Dirt Dogs takes a look back the most beloved Red Sox players at each position (1967-2010), and we ask you to pick your favorites. The power-hitting Armas came over to the Sox in a trade with the A's for Carney Lansford in 1983 and played four seasons in Boston. In 1984, Armas batted .268 and led the AL with 43 homers while knocking in 123 runs. From 1980 to '85, Armas hit more home runs (187) than any other American League player.
