Jimy WilliamsWilliams led the Red Sox to wild card berths in 1998 and
'99, earning AL manager of the year honors in the latter season. During the 1999 ALCS, Yankees owner Steinbrenner blamed Williams for inciting Fenway fans when they pelted the field with debris during a playoff game after key calls went against the Red Sox. Williams responded with one of his most memorable quips, When Georgie Porgie speaks, I dont listen." During the 2000 season, Jimy had a falling out with Red Sox GM Dan Duquette over volatile Sox outfielder Carl Everett who engaged with an expletive-laced argument with Williams. "Carl and I just had a little bit of a heated conversation before the game but it is staying in-house," Williams said. Williams was fired in August 2001 and replaced by pitching coach Joe Kerrigan.
