In 1978, Eck's first year with the Red Sox, he went 20-8 with a 2.99 ERA, and had four complete games to end the season. The Hall of Famer won 17 games in '79, but his numbers faded as a starter and he was traded to the Cubs for Bill Buckner in 1984.
