Bruce Hurst The southpaw was 33-9 with the Sox from 1986 to '88, and his 56 Fenway Park victories are second only to Mel Parnell among lefties. In 1986, despite battling an injury, Hurst won 13 games and posted a 2.99 ERA as the Sox advanced to the postseason. In the '86 Series vs. the Mets, Hurst. won Game 1 1-0 and Game 5 4-2 to give Boston a 3-2 lead, which prompted Darryl Strawberry to say at the time, 'Clemens is tough, but he's no Hurst.'
