The Red Sox erased 86 years of curses, close calls, and angst by completing an improbable run to a World Series title in 2004. That they did it at all was an incredible story. That they did it after being down 3-0 to the Yankees in the ALCS and by sweeping the Cardinals in the World Series was epic.
