Fenway Park Strategy Guide: Before or after a Sox game Boston.com
Baseball Tavern. Real Sox fans and no bloated prices.

Before is a no-brainer, Boston Billiards has $1 Miller Lite drafts and $1 hot dogs. It has to be the best deal around the park. That way you have more money to spend on the $5.50 beers at Fenway.

It is a very exact science. 3 Bambino Ales at the Beerworks before the game. You cannot take more than 15 minutes to drink them, or it's bad luck. You have to decisively vanquish the curse. After the game, a win would find me at the Cask for celebratory beer(s); a loss would find me on the T back to the Fleet Center and my car for the long drive back home.

We grab a slice of cheese pizza from the pizza and sausage guy outside of Fenway and still have time to go and grab a good seat at the bar at Cask ‘N Flagon for a few cold beers before the game.

Copperfield's is usally not too packed and has two floors full of numerous bars. Copperfield's is my usual stop before/after Sox games, just due to you can actually get a drink and/or food when you are ready rather than waiting 10-15 minutes in line for each trip.

Cask for pre-game, Kake Ivory's post game for some classic/modern rock and pretty ladies.

The Baseball Tavern is always a staple before the game ... some Budweisers out on the patio for an hour of people watching is great. After the game is all about food and more beer, and there's nothing better than heading over to the Pour House (getting away from the immediate Fenway vicinity) for some appetizers and beers. After that, the Foggy Goggle (next door) is quite a party...ask the bartender for the funnel.

If you are a little too drunk for the Cask, or want to avoid a crowded bar altogether, a good place to head after the game is PJ Kilroys on Beacon street; you can get there by cutting across the big parking lot next to Boston Beerworks. This bar is not too crowded after a game, and there is a pool table and some dart boards for added excitement. Beer is relatively cheep too.

Go to O'Leary's in Brookline. It's convenient (right on the Green Line), and because it's far enough away from the park, the uninformed don't know about it, thus it's never overly crowded. Good food, great beer selection, good atmosphere. Afterward, it's a pretty easy walk back up Beacon Street, across the parking lot and into Fenway.

Who's on First is good for some quick cheap drinks.

I like My Brother's Place pizza (corner of Park & Buswell, near St. Mary's T stop). I try to park around there so when I'm walking back toward my car, I can get a couple slices of pizza. It's a little bit hidden so it's not usually crowded.

It's all about the Cornwall's in Kenmore Square. It rarely gets super-crowded and you can usually get a table an hour before game time, unlike Unos, Beer Works, and the Cask. The best thing about Cornwall's? The huge selection of unique imported and craft beers, including some that are found nowhere else in Boston.

The best place to grab BBQ before the game is at the Linwood Grill. After the game, Adubon on Beacon is great.

Jillians!!! How can you beat bowling, drinking, and video games!!!

I always hit Brown Sugar (on Jersey) before a Sox game. Its never crowded during pre-game hours and its the best thai food around.

Post-Game: I like Tequila Rain (Landsdowne St.) or home, depending on what day of the week it is!
- Submitted by Allison, Boston

Get priority seating at the Kenmore Uno's at around 6 PM. After the ballgame, take a nice stroll to the Pru, where the Marche is open late every night for great food and fun.

Go to Audobon Circle a couple of hours before the game. You can grab quality food at very decent prices. Get a pitcher of beer while you're at it (you'll get more bang for your buck compared to Fenway Park).
- Submitted by Fed, Brookline

I first booze and try to get my pre-game on at Tequila Rain. After that, I hit up the game and watch Manny and his fro hit a homah. I booze at the game and get my grubbles on. After the game, my buddy makes me buy one of those $10 t-shirts.

In order to avoid the crowd, I head for Longhorn's in the old Sears building. They have a nice bar, large dining room and outdoor seating. They also have great margaritas! Also, Cornwall's in Kenmore Square. Used to be a great little bar/restaurant with a zillion kinds of beer. They moved across the street, is much bigger now, but still nice owners and great beer.
- Submitted by Jane, Melrose

Before the game: A double margarita and an appetizer or two at Longhorn Steakhouse. Unless I decide to go to the ballpark early for BP and grab a Guinness inside along with either a cuban sandwich or a sausage & pepper sub. After the game: either CD shopping at Nuggets, in Kenmore Square or Looney Tunes, on Boylston Street (or both!); or catching a movie at the Fenway Theater.

Where I go before and after a game varies, but one thing is always constant. No trip to Fenway is complete without a sausage from the Sausage Guy on Lansdowne Street. There are many imitators in and around the ballpark but there is only Sausage Guy. Make sure to get it LOADED with peppers and onions.

Crossroads Tavern before the game is a must!
- Submitted by David, Arlington

I go to the Baseball Tavern. The best bar in Boston. Not filled with yahoo college kids like the Cask and front runners or tourists like Beer Works. Just honest to goodness Sox fans.
- Submitted by Matt, Wilmington

I usually go to the Cask or out on Yawkey before the game. Lately I've been going to Tequila Rain. It's usually not as crowded as the bars on Brookline Ave and the bartenders are very attractive.

The only proper way to prepare for a Red Sox home game is a steak burrito from El Pelon over on Peterborough Street. I suggest you try it with sour cream and enano verde hot sauce.

The Dugout Cafe...located on Comm Ave away from the commotion and chaos around Fenway. The beers are cheap, the lines are nonexistent, and the bartenders are friendly. Friends and I go there for a pitcher or two before heading up the few blocks back to Fenway for game time.

Getting hammid on the Yawk.

We make a yearly pilgrimage to Fenway, and it's part of the tradition to have dinner at the Legal Seafood in the Pru before the game.
- Submitted by L Jaeger, Rochester, NY

I like to go to Fire and Ice before the game, it is an all you can eat dinner which is good before a night of drinking. This also allows me to get on the less crowed E line before the game. After dinner and a couple of beers there, I walk to the park (about 10 min). After the game I am usually up for someplace crowded with girls, so I go to Boston Billiards.
