In a courtside interview before the 4th quarter of Sunday’s game vs. the Mavericks, Spurs coach Gregg Popovich took a moment to acknowledge TNT broadcaster Craig Sager’s battle with Leukemia.
Sager’s son, Craig Sager Jr., conducted the interview with the usually prickly Popovich. After answering two questions about the game, which was tied at 65, Popovich looked into the camera and spoke to the elder Sager.
“We miss ya,” said Popovich. “You’ve been an important part of all of this for a long time, doing a great job. We want your fanny back on the court, and I promise I’ll be nice.”
