Glen Rice, activated before the game, hit a jumper from the top of the key as time expired last night to give the Los Angeles Clippers a 100-99 victory over the Dallas Mavericks. Corey Maggette scored 20 of his 30 points in the first half for Los Angeles, which overcame a 22-point deficit.
Dallas's Michael Finley scored 28 of his 38 points in the first half. Antoine Walker finished with 21 points and 10 assists, but had a critical shot blocked by Elton Brand in the final two minutes.
The loss was the fourth straight on the road for the Mavericks, who tied for the best road record in the NBA last season.
Magic 95, Wizards 91 -- It's not exactly Magic, but it's a stunner nonetheless: Orlando has a two-game winning streak. The team that began the week with a 19-game losing streak got 27 points from Tracy McGrady and a season-high 17 from Shammond Williams to defeat host Washington.
Williams made three 3-pointers and hit two free throws with 8.1 seconds left for Orlando, which snapped an eight-game road losing streak.
Spurs 102, Trail Blazers 77 -- Tim Duncan had 18 points and 14 rebounds as host San Antonio never trailed in a victory over Portland. San Antonio, percentage points behind Utah for last place in the Midwest Division, won its fourth straight game.
Bucks 94, Warriors 89 -- Michael Redd scored 25 points and Dan Gadzuric had career highs of 19 points and 13 rebounds to lead host Milwaukee over Golden State in overtime. The Warriors lost to an Eastern Conference team for the first time in six games this season. The Bucks scored the first 6 points of overtime, and the Warriors didn't score in the extra period until 10 seconds remained.
Grizzlies 103, Hawks 90 -- Mike Miller scored a season-high 22 points, including 11 in a key third quarter rally, and host Memphis defeated Atlanta to tie a franchise record with its sixth consecutive win. Miller had back-to-back 3-pointers late in the third as the Grizzlies took the lead for good, eventually going ahead by 15 in the fourth quarter.
Jazz 95, Knicks 73 -- Greg Ostertag scored a season-high 16 points with 12 rebounds and Andrei Kirilenko had another impressive stat line as Utah handed visiting New York its sixth straight loss. All five Utah starters scored in double figures. Raul Lopez scored 12 points with 9 rebounds and 9 assists, and Matt Harpring finished with 22 points and nine rebounds. Kirilenko had 10 points, 12 rebounds, 5 blocks, 6 steals, and 6 assists.
