Connecticut (9-7) is in second place in the Eastern Conference, just percentage points (.571-.563) behind first-place Indiana.

Wendy Palmer, Nykesha Sales and Taj McWilliams-Franklin finished with 13 points. Palmer also had eight rebounds.

Katie Douglas had 11 points and Lindsay Whalen finished with 10 points and seven assists.

Chamique Holdsclaw led the Mystics (5-8) with 21 points -- and eight turnovers.

Smith forced overtime with a running 8-foot jump shot from the baseline with 5.1 seconds left to tie the game at 50. Tiffani Johnson's short baseline jumper rimmed out as time expired for Houston.
