Carter says he was joking over not dunking

TORONTO -- It was a joke, Vince Carter says now.

The Toronto Raptors' star says an innocuous comment about not dunking anymore has been blown out of proportion.

"I'm not going to dunk anymore? After I dunked in the last two games? C'mon. Whatever. It was a joke," Carter told the Toronto Star on Tuesday. "A guy said to me, `What are you going to do (to get out of the worst slump of your career?)' I told him, `Whatever, I'm not dunking anymore.' "

Carter said Monday that he doesn't want to dunk anymore, saying "dunking was overrated."

In Toronto's 102-86 loss to the Washington Wizards on Tuesday night, Carter had a dunk in the third quarter when he converted a lob pass from Lamond Murray on a fast break. He had another one late in the quarter on perhaps his most athletic slam of the season, a windmill one-hander after a feed from Chris Bosh.

Carter led the Raptors with 25 points in the game at Washington.
