Spurs edge Mavericks

Tim Duncan had 31 points and 15 rebounds and the Spurs beat the Dallas Mavericks, 97-94, last night in San Antonio for their seventh straight win.

Manu Ginobili added 17 points for San Antonio and Michael Finley scored 16. Dirk Nowitzki scored 28 points for the Mavericks and Josh Howard and reserve Brandon Bass each added 16.

The Mavericks are 3-2 with new addition Jason Kidd, who had 10 assists and 7 points. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for Dallas.

The Spurs were up, 73-72, heading into the fourth quarter. With the game tied at 94, Erick Dampier fouled Duncan, who sank both shots from the line to put San Antonio ahead, 96-94, with 34.5 seconds to go.

Nowitzki missed two shots with less than 30 seconds on the clock, and Jason Terry missed another. The Spurs got the ball back with 3.3 seconds to go, and Dampier fouled Finley with 0.4 left. Finley hit the first of two from the line.

Nets 120, Bucks 106 - Playing for the first time since being acquired last week in an eight-player trade for Kidd, Devin Harris scored 16 of his 21 points in a spectacular game-changing early spurt that carried host New Jersey past Milwaukee.

Vince Carter and Richard Jefferson added 19 points apiece for the Nets and Bostjan Nachbar scored all 13 of his points in the fourth quarter.

Lakers 106, Heat 88 - Jordan Farmar scored a career-high 24 points, Kobe Bryant added 21, and host Los Angeles extended its winning streak to a season-best 10 games. Dwyane Wade had 18 points for Miami after playing 13 scoreless minutes during a foul-plagued first half.
