Sutton-Brown, Fever prove too hot for Sun
Tammy Sutton-Brown and Katie Douglas each scored 18 points to lead the Indiana Fever to an 81-74 win over the Connecticut Sun last night in Indianapolis.
Tully Bevilaqua had 17 points as the Fever won their second straight game over the Sun this season and ended the visitors' five-game win streak at
Asjha Jones scored 20 points, and Lindsay Whalen and Tamika Whitmore each had 15 points for the Sun. Jones and Whalen made baskets as the Sun opened the fourth quarter with an 8-1 run to close the deficit to 73-68 with 4:07 to play.
Both teams then struggled until Douglas drove the lane to give the Fever a 75-69 lead with 90 seconds to play and force the Sun into a fouling situation.
Dream 91, Sky 84 - Atlanta's wait for its first win is over. Ivory Latta scored 16 of her 18 points in the second half to help the expansion Dream (1-17) end the longest losing skid to start a season in league history with a victory over visiting Chicago.
Liberty 93, Mercury 83 - Shameka Christon scored 18 of her 25 points in the first half and visiting New York snapped Phoenix's four-game winning streak.
Storm 96, Lynx 71 - Lauren Jackson scored 16 of her season-high 34 points in the first quarter, and host Seattle rallied from an early deficit to rout Minnesota.
Comets 73, Monarchs 65 - Tina Thompson scored 19 points in her first game since missing four contests because of a broken finger to lift Houston past visiting Sacramento.![]()
