Cavaliers cruise to eighth straight win

LeBron James scored 31 points in showing the New York metropolitan area what might be on the free agency market in 2010 as the Cleveland Cavaliers rolled to their eighth straight win with a 106-82 decision over the New Jersey Nets last night in East Rutherford, N.J.

James added eight rebounds, four assists, and a remarkable blocked shot on a play late in the third quarter when he chased down Nets point guard Devin Harris on a fast break and prevented a dunk.

Mo Williams added 16 points and six assists and Delonte West hit all four of his 3-pointers in the decisive third quarter when Cleveland broke the game open.

Harris, who was looking for his fourth straight 30-point game, had 23 points to lead New Jersey.

Lakers 116, Bulls 109 - Pau Gasol scored 24 of his season-high 34 points in the first half and the host Lakers rebounded from their first setback of the season with a victory over Chicago.

Kobe Bryant added 21 points, to go with five rebounds and six assists, and Andrew Bynum had 18 points and nine rebounds for the Lakers (8-1), who had three days to contemplate a 106-95 loss to the Pistons Friday night.

Derrick Rose led Chicago with 25 points and nine assists.

Magic 103, Raptors 90 - Jameer Nelson scored a season-high 22 points to lead host Orlando to a win over Toronto, overcoming a season-high 40-point effort by Chris Bosh.

Bosh also had 18 rebounds, but the Raptors had 24 turnovers. Rashard Lewis and Hedo Turkoglu each added 22 points and Dwight Howard had 18 for the Magic, who won for the eighth time in nine games.

Pacers 113, Hawks 96 - Danny Granger scored 34 points to lead host Indiana past slumping Atlanta, which has lost four straight.

Rasho Nesterovic scored 21 points, Jeff Foster had 12, and Troy Murphy added 10 points and 19 rebounds for the Pacers, who won their fifth consecutive home game against Atlanta.

Warriors 111, Trail Blazers 106 - Stephen Jackson scored 10 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter and host Golden State overcame Greg Oden's 22 points and 10 rebounds to defeat Portland.

Heat 94, Wizards 87 - Dwyane Wade had 19 points, 10 assists, and 6 rebounds as Miami beat the struggling Wizards in Washington.

Grizzlies 109, Kings 94 - Rudy Gay scored 22 points and host Memphis shot a season-high 54 percent to snap a four-game losing streak.

Hakim Warrick had 21 points and 10 rebounds and Marc Gasol scored 16 for Memphis.

John Salmons led the Kings with 18 points.

Nuggets 114, Bucks 105 - Linas Kleiza scored 25 points and Carmelo Anthony had 17 as the Nuggets topped Milwaukee in Denver.

Mavericks 100, Bobcats 83 - Dirk Nowitzki scored 32 points, Josh Howard added 21, and visiting Dallas never trailed in a rout of Charlotte.
