UNCASVILLE, Conn.—Anete Jekabsone-Zogota has joined the Connecticut Sun after missing the first seven games while playing for Latvia in the European basketball championships.

The 5-foot-9 guard, signed by the Sun in February, practiced with the team for the first time on Sunday.

"When I was younger, it was my dream to play in the WNBA," Jekabsone-Zogota said. "It was a good practice today. I got to know some plays, know some teammates and do some shooting."

To make room on the roster, the Sun waived former UConn star Barbara Turner. After leading Connecticut with 44 3-pointers last year, she was shooting just 21 percent (8 for 39) from the field -- 4 for 25 on 3s -- this season.
