Smith, Hawks put end to Bulls’ six-game winning streak
Josh Smith scored 25 points, Joe Johnson and Vladimir Radmanovic each added 17, and the Hawks beat Chicago, 109-94, last night in Atlanta to snap the Bulls’ six-game winning streak.
John Lucas III had 14 of his team-high 16 points in the fourth quarter for Chicago, which never led. The Bulls (7-2) had been off to their best start since going 12-0 in 1996-97.
Derrick Rose, last season’s MVP, scored 8 points for Chicago - his lowest total since the Bulls took a 17-point win at Toronto on Dec. 15, 2010.
He did not return to the game after leaving with 2:29 left in the third quarter.
Thunder 98, Rockets 95 - Kevin Durant hit a jumper with 22 seconds left and nailed two free throws to give visiting Oklahoma City a win over Houston.
Durant finished with 27 points, Russell Westbrook added 25 points and six assists, and Nazr Mohammed had a season-high 17 points for the Thunder. Luis Scola had a season-high 28 points and seven rebounds, and Goran Dragic had a season-best 20 points and eight assists to lead the Rockets.
Heat 101, Nets 90 - LeBron James returned to score 22 of his 32 points in the first quarter, and visiting Miami rolled over New Jersey, despite playing without Dwyane Wade.
Jazz 88, Warriors 87 - Gordon Hayward made a go-ahead free throw with 11 seconds remaining, lifting visiting Utah for its fourth straight victory.
Hayward finished with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists, and Al Jefferson added 15 points and eight rebounds for the Jazz.
Spurs 121, Nuggets 117 - Danny Green (24 points) hit two free throws with 3.6 seconds left to help San Antonio beat visiting Denver. Danilo Gallinari tied his career high with 31 points for the Nuggets, who were without Nene (left heel strain).
76ers 97, Raptors 62 - Andre Iguodala had 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Jrue Holiday also scored 14 points to lead host Philadelphia to its fourth straight.
Mavericks 96, Hornets 81 - Vince Carter and Ian Mahinmi had 13 points each to lead host Dallas, handing New Orleans its sixth straight loss.
Knicks 103, Pistons 80 - Amar’e Stoudemire scored 22 points and Mike Bibby added 16 as New York won easily in Auburn Hills, Mich.
Clippers 92, Bucks 86 - Blake Griffin had 22 points and 14 rebounds and Caron Butler scored 20 points as host Los Angeles won a chippy game.
Chauncey Billups added 19 points for the Clippers in a game that had a combined 54 fouls, including a flagrant 1 against Milwaukee’s Larry Sanders for his hard takedown of Butler on an attempted layup with 1:38 left in the third quarter.
Pacers 99, Bobcats 77 - Roy Hibbert scored 20 points to help host Indiana beat Charlotte.
