This is a transition year
It's a bridge year, but not in the sense that the Celtics aren't expected to compete. The Celtics are transitioning their leadership from Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett to Rajon Rondo. Pierce has already pulled Rondo aside several times in three games (pictured) and given him pep talks, telling him to stop over-thinking the game and just play. The public displays of motivation have been deliberate. They're also going to take time to sink in. Rondo won't take over the team all at once. He'll do it in bits and pieces (he's already done a lot of it off the court over the summer and during training camp).
