PORTLAND, Ore. — A month ago, the Celtics sat atop the Atlantic Division, the unexpected kings of an unforeseen pile of garbage.
Now, the Celtics have the fifth-worst record among 30 NBA teams, placing them exactly where many thought they’d be before the season.
They reached that point after losing a season-high eight consecutive games and 11 of their last 12, with the latest defeat coming Saturday night to the Portland Trail Blazers, 112-104, at the Moda Center.
The Celtics (13-25) now have their longest losing streak since losing a franchise-record 18 straight in 2006-07.
They will also return home from a five-game road trip against Western Conference teams with nothing to show for it. Full story for BostonGlobe.com subscribers.
