Garnett not Boston-bound

Speculation that Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star Kevin Garnett would come to Boston in a multiplayer deal that also included the No. 5 pick in Thursday's NBA draft ended yesterday.

Garnett's agent, Andy Miller, said: "Kevin is not coming to Boston," when reached yesterday.

The Celtics have been trying to package the pick and other young players on the roster for a veteran All-Star to accelerate the rebuilding process. Other names rumored to have piqued the team's interest include the Pacers' Jermaine O'Neal, the Lakers' Kobe Bryant, and the Suns' Shawn Marion.

Miller also represents Sebastian Telfair and made it clear Garnett's lack of interest in Boston had nothing to do with Telfair. The third-string point guard ran afoul of the organization when he was arrested and charged with weapons possession and speeding in April. Following that incident, the Celtics removed Telfair's nameplate from his locker at the team's practice facility in Waltham.

"Danny [Ainge has] been extremely supportive in the Sebastian situation," said Miller. "This is not a reflection of anything regarding Sebastian. This [trade] situation is isolated between the Timberwolves and us."
