Chauncey Billups had a game-high 28 points, including the winning free throws with 0.1 seconds left after faking out Celtics guard Tony Allen and drawing the foul (pictured left). Kevin Garnett led the Celtics with 26 points and Ray Allen had 24. The Pistons shot 9 for 20 from 3-point range, while the Celtics hit on only 4 of 14.

It was the coming-out party for Celtics rookie Glen "Big Baby" Davis, who came off the bench to score 20 points. The Celtics were the more aggressive team, going 26 of 33 from the free throw line while the Pistons went 16 of 23. Boston ran its winning streak to nine games while snapping Detroit's string of victories at 11.

Garnett led all scorers with 31 points, and Kendrick Perkins had a career-high 20 rebounds and scored 10 points. The Celtics held the Pistons to 36 percent shooting from the field. The Pistons never led, falling behind, 17-3, after the opening tip. With the win, the Celtics became the first team to clinch a playoff berth.![]()
