Scalabrine out after second concussion

WALTHAM - Brian Scalabrine's second concussion in three days could keep him out for a while.
Coach Doc Rivers expects the forward to be out "for at least a week" after he suffered a concussion at practice yesterday. Scalabrine originally suffered a concussion against Dallas Sunday and missed practice Monday. He suffered another concussion when he bumped into Patrick O'Bryant while trying to get a rebound yesterday and was taken to New England Baptist Hospital.
"He got hit in the head and just had a mild concussion," Rivers said. "I don't know if he was [unconscious], but it's close. He'll be out probably for quite some time."
Scalabrine is averaging 3.1 points and 1.3 rebounds this season and has started six games. He was slated to join Leon Powe and members of the Celtics Women's Group at an afternoon event in Roxbury before the concussion.
"It's a tough one," Rivers said. "He has been playing great. With us, the way we've been spreading the floor, losing him right now is a tough blow."
Said Ray Allen, "I'd rather see him healthy. So whatever he needs to do - and I know this doesn't sound right - to get his head right, he has to take care of himself. It is disappointing because he has been playing right."
Rivers said he could activate injured guard Tony Allen tonight against Sacramento. Allen has missed the past 11 games with a sprained right ankle but practiced yesterday. Rivers said he has been cautious with Allen's return to ensure he is completely healed.
"Tony looked good, actually," Rivers said. "He ran well, moved well. You could tell he was in terrible shape, and that was what he was concerned by. He said, 'After three minutes, I was dying.' We said, 'We'll play you three minutes.' With Scal out, Tony may have to play [tonight]."
