The Celtics had their hands full with LeBron James, who narrowly missed a triple-double with 35 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists. Paul Pierce scored 25 points and Rondo had 16 helpers as the Celtics handed a struggling Heat team its second straight home loss.

The Celtics stopped a late comeback by the Heat to retake the top spot in the East. Rondo was stellar, recording 11 points, 10 assists, and 10 rebounds while defending James and holding him to 22 points.

The Heat handed the slumping Celtics one of their worst losses of the season, just a few days shy of the playoffs. Boston took a quick lead but couldn’t sustain any momentum. Allen was held to 13 points, and Rondo managed just 7 points and 5 assists.
