Pierce to rest hip

Posted by Peter May, Globe Staff October 16, 2006 12:49 PM

Paul Pierce will travel to New York with his teammates for tomorrow night's exhibition game against the Knicks, but the plan for now is for him to watch and not participate. Pierce has a sore left hip, but it wasn't sore enough to keep him out of practice or to keep him out of a regular season game. But caution is the watchword in training camp. Additionally, Delonte West (infected toe), Theo Ratliff (sore back) and Brian Scalabrine (sore left shoulder) will not travel to New York. None of them practiced today.
