Theo Ratliff said today that he has decided to undergo back surgery and said he would probably not play again this year.

Ratliff, an 11-year veteran, has played in only two games for a total of 22 minutes this year. He came to the Celtics from Portland in the off-season as part of the trade that brought Sebastian Telfair to Boston.

He is on the books for $11.7 million this year.
