Miller still deciding
In an interview with Dan Patrick on ESPN Radio yesterday, the soon-to-be 42-year-old Reggie Miller said he planned on making a decision on whether to join the Celtics in a couple of weeks.
“I’m working out twice a day,” Miller told Patrick. “I wanted to shock the body to see if [a comeback is] possible. It would be irresponsible of me not to if I was going to think about doing this -- which I am -- not to go at it full bore. I’ve been going at it full bore, and I’ll make my decision soon.”
Miller first made headlines last week after Danny Ainge called to see if he’d be interested in joining Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen with the Celtics. Miller told Patrick he was “a little shocked” after getting the call.
“[The Celtics] gave me as much time as I needed,” Miller said. “It’s been about six or seven days that I’ve been going two-a-days and I’ll probably go another 10 days to two weeks to see, and maybe by the end of the month, the beginning of September, I would have a definitive answer.”
Miller conducted the interview form his home in Malibu, Calif. While he was talking to Patrick, he got a knock at his door from a neighbor -- Garnett, who jumped on the phone and told Patrick he was in “Get Reggie” mode.
“It’s like stucco and concrete,” Garnett told Patrick when asked about the possibility of the Celtics adding Miller. “Stucco is really good for the house … it’s solid, it’s firm. But you do have those cases where water leaks into the stucco. You don’t have that problem with concrete. You put Reggie into this mix and we got concrete.”
