More on Posey

Posted by Gary Dzen, Boston.com Staff August 25, 2007 05:03 PM

The Celtics agreed to terms with 6-foot-8 inch forward James Posey today, giving them an experienced defensive specialist off the bench. Posey will earn $7 million over two years should he exercise the player option in the second year of the deal.

You can find Posey's complete stats on his NBA.com player profile page, but here are a couple of highlights:

  • Posey averaged 7.7 points and 5 rebounds in 71 games for Miami last season. He started 19 games and averaged 27 minutes per contest.

  • Posey made $6.4 million last season for the Heat.

  • He has career averages of 8.2 points and 5.6 rebounds. He entered the league out of Xavier in 1999.

  • Posey was arrested and charged with a DUI on April 9 of this year when police pulled him over for stopping in the middle of the road. Police said Posey was slurring his speech and that they smelled alcohol on his breath. He later reached a plea agreement to lesser charges and was ordered to perform 50 hours of community service and complete six-months of probation.
