Posted by Marc J. Spears, Globe Staff November 15, 2007 03:42 PM

Comcast SportsNet’s Boston Celtics vs. New Jersey Nets telecast last night delivered a 5.4 household rating, the highest rated Celtics regular season telecast since the 1997-98 season.

The Celtics are the NBA’s sole remaining undefeated team at 7-0, and the Green’s win over the Nets was viewed in 124,200 households. The game rating peaked at a 7.7 (177,100) in the final quarter hour of the telecast (9:45 p.m. to 10 p.m.)

Comcast SportsNet’s previous high was a 4.9 household rating set on December 23, 1997, Celtics vs. Hornets.

Through seven games, Comcast SportsNet’s 2007-08 household ratings are up 76 percent year-over-year from the 2006-07 season. Comcast SportsNet’s first seven telecasts have averaged a 3.9 (89,700 households) vs. a 2.2 in 2006-07.
