Kevin Garnett plays defense at home. He blames his coaches.

“We do so many defensive drills in practice, we do them in our sleep,” said Garnett, who said he practices denying the ball with his wife. When the room roared with laughter, Garnett said he wasn’t kidding.

“It’s just sad. You all are laughing, but that’s real talk. I go home denying the wing.”

Garnett said the Celtics were disappointed with their defense in the first half. Sacramento shot 55 percent before halftime.

“That first half was terrible for us,” said Garnett. “We looked at that like, ‘What are we doing out here?’ The second half as you saw we turned the heat up.”
