Obama to Boston: Can we get some of that?

Posted by David Beard, Boston.com Staff December 4, 2007 03:45 PM

It's safe to say that Barack Obama has Celtics envy.

Following a Boston Globe editorial meeting, the Democratic presidential candidate made a swing through our offices yesterday, insisting on stopping in the sports section.

He spoke about the Kevin Garnett-fortified C's, the World Champion Sox, and the undefeated Pats -- the kind of winning sports combination lacking during his 1988-91 stay in town while attending Harvard Law School.

Then the US senator had a question -- and a request.

The question: "What are you putting in the water here?

The request: "Can we get some of that in Chicago?''

The US senator from Illinois, who had sharp elbows as a pickup basketball player during his law school years, has made little secret of his sports obsession. He used one Saturday Night Live appearance to make a nationwide pitch for the Chicago Bears.

  1. Let's hope that we can give him enough of whatever is swimming in the Charles to get him a win over Hillary in the primaries.
