Stoudamire officially waived

Posted by Marc J. Spears, Globe Staff January 28, 2008 06:00 PM

The Memphis Grizzlies bought veteran point guard Damon Stoudamire out of his contract at 6 P.M. EST on Monday, according to his agent Aaron Goodwin. The Celtics, Spurs, Raptors and Suns all have interest in Stoudamire, who will be an unrestricted free agent at 6 P.M. EST Wednesday assuming he clears waivers as expected. Rumors, however, continue to persist that the Celtics have interest in Clippers guard Sam Cassell, but they have no way of acquiring via trade.

  1. Stoudamire is a cancer. Let him go ruin the chemistry of some other team. If Cassell gets waived, pick him up in a second. Sam would be awesome in a limited role and if push came to shove because of injury would be able to play more minutes. He has played with KG before and is a crafty veteran in clutch time. Because of injury and beaten up body you would only want him playing 15-20 minutes a game.
