Celtics stand pat

Posted by Marc J. Spears, Globe Staff February 21, 2008 05:09 PM

With the trade deadline passing at 3 p.m., the Boston Celtics did not make any moves. Celtics V.P. of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge said it's "all quiet".

Ainge added: "I like our team. There was nothing that tempted us."

However, the Cavaliers made some noise in the Eastern Conference in a blockbuster, three-way trade.

The Associated Press reported the Cavaliers acquired center Ben Wallace from the Bulls and forward Wally Szczerbiak from the SuperSonics, two players to possibly get James and the Cavs through the Eastern Conference and back to the finals.

he Cavaliers sent guard Larry Hughes, forwards Drew Gooden and Cedric Simmons, and guard Shannon Brown to Chicago for Wallace, one of the game's top inside enforcers, and forward Joe Smith.

Cleveland acquired the sharpshooting Szczerbiak and guard Delonte West from Seattle for forwards Ira Newble and Donyell Marshall.

The Cavaliers will also get Chicago's second-round pick in 2009. The SuperSonics will receive guard Adrian Griffin from the Bulls.

  1. so whats the chance we can get cassell? Did Ainge not see how much trouble eddie house had taking the ball down the court against Baron Davis?> And how our offense looks like a joke without rondo?

  1. I was at the Celtics-Warriors game last night, and it sure looked like the Celtics could use a good defensive center to back up Perkins. Any chance they can pick someone up from the D league?

  1. Nothing scary about that team. Wallace brings no offense to the Cavs, and we all know how Wally is, we saw it first hand.

  1. I don't know about some fans here but I personally would have liked the C's to have picked up another big man banger similar to a PJ Brown or Ben Wallace type and a more pure, experienced back up PG ala Mike James, Delonte, Chucky Atkins, Lindsay Hunter, Anthony Carter, Bobby Jackson, Steve Blake, etc. JMHO!
