Media Circus

Posted by Greg Lee, Globe Staff February 15, 2008 05:46 PM

Today was media day where all of the All-Stars were made available to the media.

It's not quite like media day at the Super Bowl, however, there were several members from the Chinese media for the Rockets' Yao Ming.

There were large media groupings where LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and Jason Kidd were sitting.

The Celtics contingent of Doc Rivers, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen held court, but Kevin Garnett was a no-show.

There were several answers of "I am glad to be in the All Star Game," "It's always fun to play with the best."

Paul Pierce recalled at this time last year when the Celtics experienced one of the franchise's worst seasons in history.

"I was down. You were playing, but wasn't really motivated," Pierce said.

"It was tough ... Just to be back in the All-Star game this year, is a great turnaround. If someone told me last year that this team would be this good this year, I would probably call them a liar."

Celtics sharpshooter Ray Allen said his greatest All-Star memory was winning the 3-point contest in 2001.
