Posted by Marc J. Spears, Globe Staff March 10, 2008 12:31 PM

PHILADELPHIA -- New Celtics point guard Sam Cassell could make his debut tonight against the Sixers. The two-time NBA champion, who was signed a week ago, will be activated for tonight's game. Forward Brian Scalabrine will be inactive to make room for Cassell.

  1. I can think of LA, San Antonio and possibly Detroit, but that's only my opinion. I remember something like that comment when the Pats were 18-0. Didn't work out as planned..........

  1. "a seasoned player as well..."

That's quite a nice way of saying, "old".

  1. Like Doc says, we haven't done anything yet. Wait and see if Sam helps. Number 17 would be nice, but so was Number 4 for the Pats.

  1. I have no idea why people bash Scalabrine other than the "Red-headed Step Child Syndrome". The guy hustle's, has great hoop IQ and a nose for the ball. He gives a great effort when on the court and doesn't take time off. Sam Casell may be a good fit in that they need help at the #1. But get off Scal, he doesn't deserve the criticism.

  1. Scal - dont sweat it, you may end up with a ring. Lets NOT JINX IT -however...

Doc is doing one heck of a job, this team has such the right attitude, only wish the playoffs started tomorrow. I am worried that what happened to our Patriots may happen to the Celts.

Sometimes its not good to clinch early. Now its up to Doc to make it work despite the super early success.

  1. Dear,

I'm an inter with startup widget 1000 and I created a news widget for Boston Celtics News.
It's updated every hours with NBA headlines from several different sports websites like ESPN, FOX Yahoo, etc. (Take a look: http://www.widget1000.com/)

Can we add Boston Celtics Team blog to the widget, too? That means that every time you post to your blog the headline of the post will show up on the widget and link directly to your post.
Anyone who puts this widget on their start page or on their website will see your Boston Celtics posts too. It's a powerful and free way to publicize your site.

Finally, would you add the Boston Celtics News Widget to your site so that others can see it?
Everyone who grabs the widget will automatically link to you so it's great for your search engine rankings. Plus, it shows a lot of stories about NBA and since it's updated every hour it is fresh and will make your site even more appealing than it already is.

    What do you think?

    Go Boston Celtics

    Aurelie

  1. I have waited for this day for almost 3 years. I never liked the Scalabrine signing to begin with. I am so happy they finally have 12 guys Doc trusts so that he can put this guy in street clothes where he belongs. I will be relishing this as I watch the game tonight. I hope this will be the first night of many Scalabrine-less games for the Celtics. Thank you Doc you are the man. Go Celtics!!!!

  1. He should give the Celts the versatility and experience they need throughout the playoffs. He is definitely a great addition and will work well with the veterans and younger players as well.

  1. Scal keep your head up! Real basketball fans know that your leadership and team defense ( which is better then any forward on the team) will be missed. Rivers has shown you zero respect since Danny brought you to the celtics. I guess your just not Rivers kinda player. Hmmmm...

Posted by Paul Barr March 10, 08 08:59 PM
  1. Cassell is a bum; the Celts will be lucky if he doesn't completely ruin team chemistry.

  1. Scal is sitting down? What happened to BIG 4?

Posted by Alex March 10, 08 09:13 PM
  1. WELL...IT WAS A GOOD BEGINNING FOR "SAMIAM"...SIMPLY BECAUSE HE NOW KNOWS THERE'S MUCH WORK TO DO...IF ...HE WANTS SOME TIME...ON THE FLOOR...&...NOT ON HIS NARROW BEEEHIND!!!!...THIS SHOULD HELP KEEP EGOS IN CHECK...AND KEEP EVAA...REE...BODDEEE...FOCUSED ON A ...TEAM-STAT...THE NBA CHAMPIONSHIP...NOW...WHO'S NEXT...TO GET A ROYAL ...CELT****DKICKING?!!!

  1. sam cassell gots mad defense, maybe we can get rid of that idiot Tony Allen now. I hope coach Rivers lets sam play more than Foney Allen at least Sam knows his role and he is not trying to outshine the big trey. Foney Allen does not know his role every time he gets the ball to the hole he goes, when he messes up he tries to make it up at the end of the court then files up. missing easy shots making stupid fouls, please get rid of this guy. he'll be better off on another team don't be fooled by his mediocre game. celtics minus danny ainge minus coach rivers minus tony allen equals championships. P.S. lets get pj brown some more playing time yo! watch out now Rajon Rondo Real Hondo is a stud in the making he will be part of the big 4 next year from a true die hard celtics fan till the casket drops please keep eddie house and glen davis they are some bomb players.

  1. Maybe that blogger who said the Celtics could be the first to win with an all black roster and that the Globe would eventually pick up on the story is right.

Posted by Edmund Howell Dugas March 11, 08 02:22 AM
  1. Get rid of Tony Allen. Not Scal. Allen can't do anything but dribble off his foot. Scal's a fan favorite. Doc won't get rid of Tony Allen because if he did that, we couldn't hear on a nightly basis from Tommy Heinsohn about how Tony's only 70% and once that knee heals, ---LOOK-OUT, he'll be dangerous! Look at his stat lines the last dozen games, more turnovers than points and assists. He sucks.

  1. Let's not forget about New Orleans... They can be very troublesome. The Celts haven't even played them...have we?

    Posted by DB2 March 11, 08 03:18 PM
  1. once again like i said, tony allen gotta go yo,forget the bum knee he turns the ball over too much. He's a selfish player pay attention to his game when he plays,i hope i am not the only player that sense this i know i am not the only die hard fan that observes carefully this great team that we have.Kudos to the whole team tonight the whole team scored points. I love My Celtics win loose or draw no bandwagoners here yo. I been through alot of disapointing seasons throughout my life and it was ashame to see, what i thought were die hard boston celtics fansshout mvp! when kobe was in the garden playing.i live in La La Land and i hate these lakers with a passion. i evan want the celtics to loose when we play a westcoast team, cause i don't want us to help these bastards out in anyway.Next time im in boston i better not evan here that you guys are die hard.when you guys were shouting out mvp to kobe. And when were doing shitty, still come to the games and show your loyal support.when iwas there i seen alot of empty seats i thought i would be around all my people.but i was wrong about you bostonians.
